Trained in February, 2009

Dear Tim,

Thank you for your willingness to come to Siberia to train the women in our program how to make handcrafted jewelry and textile products.

The problem with drug addiction in Russia is out of control. Every year over 90,000 people die from overdose and alcohol poison. Due to drug and alcohol addiction, crime and other social problems the death rate exceeds the birth rate so much that Russia's population decreases by 1,000,000 people per year.

In response to this need, in 2002 we started the Source of Life which is Teen Challenge Siberia. There are now seven men's residential programs with 150 students and one woman's program with 18 women (see photo below). Each center is trying to find ways to support themselves. It would be a great blessing if you could come and teach the women's program how to make jewelry.  All the profit from the sale of the jewelry and textile products would go toward covering the cost of the women's program. This would enable us to take into the program the addicted women who can't cover their food expenses while in the program.

As you know it would also provide these women with an invaluable job skill to help them support themselves after the program and help them not to return to their old lifestyle.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration in helping us!

God bless you,
Ilya and Janet Bantseev
Executive Director
Teen Challenge Source of Life
